Carlo Martinoli
Carlo Martinoli was born on October 24, 1961 in Genoa – Italy, received medical degree in 1986 and became specialist in Radiology in 1889 at the University of Genoa.
Staff radiologist (1989-1999) at the Department of Radiology of the University of Genoa, he became Assistant Professor of Radiology in 1999 and Associate Professor of Radiology at the same University in 2004.
In 2013 he received the national qualification degree as Full Professor of Radiology. Since 1989, his practice involved ultrasound and imaging of the musculoskeletal system. He has held 739 lectures as invited speaker at international Courses or Congresses. He has received 23 Awards from Scientific Societies, including RSNA, ARRS, ECR, ESPR and ESUR-SUR. He has written or co-authored a total of 205 full papers on international medical journals (English literature) in which manuscript decisions are based on peer review (H-index=44). Member of the Executive Committee (2004-2005), Chairman for Ultrasound (2005-2007) and current Chairman of the Educational Committee of the “European Society of MusculoSkeletal Radiology – ESSR”, he chaired the Annual Congress of this Society in Genoa, Italy on 2009. He was also member-at-large of the Executive Committee (2010-2012) of the "International Skeletal Society - ISS". In 2012 he founded the "International Society of Peripheral Neurophysiological Imaging - ISPNI", a multidisciplinary Society with the goal of forwarding global education and research in peripheral nerve imaging. He is member of the Imaging Expert Working Group of the International Prophylaxis Study Group (IPSG) for Haemophilic Arthropathy.
Prof. Philippe Peetrons is Head of Medical Imaging Department in Hopitaux IRIS SUD, biggest public hospital in Brussels, Belgium.
Dr. Peetrons held different positions: Chairman of the Royal Belgian Radiological Society and Chairman of the Section Ultrasonography of the Royal Belgian Radiological Society.
He is actually Professor in Medical Imaging in the Free University of Brussels
He is a member of European Society for Skeletal Radiology and board trustee of the Ultrasound Subcommitttee of this Society, Corresponding Member of the Radiological Society of North America and member of many Reviewing Committees in Ultrasound and Radiology literature.
He authored 55 papers listed in medicine and co-authored 10 books in ultrasound. He is the author of “Atlas d’Echographie du systeme locomoteur”, one of the reference books on Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in French.
He is travelling to give lectures on Musculoskeletal Ultrasound in all parts of the world and was elected in 2006 to the “Arthur Bloomfield Award” for Excellence in Continuous Medical Education, awarded by the American Academy for Continuous Medical Education (AACME)

J. Antonio Bouffard
J. Antonio Bouffard MD, or Tony to his friends, is a Bone Radiologist embedded in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Sports Medicine at the Detroit Medical Center (DMC) in Detroit, Michigan,U.S.A.. He is in charge of Orthopaedic & Sportsmedicine Ultrasound in the DMC, which takes care of 3 professional sports teams: the Detroit Tigers (baseball); the Detroit Pistons (basketball); and the Detroit Red Wings (ice hockey).
Tony received his Bachelor of Science ‘75 and Bachelor of Education ‘76 degrees from the University of Toronto, Canada, and was graduated MD ’80 at the Manila Central University, Philippines. He finished his Medical Internship ’81 at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. From there, he completed his Radiology Residency ’85 at the Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan, then 2 tandem Fellowships in Nuclear Medicine ’87 then Magnetic Resonance Imaging ‘88 at the University ofMichigan in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
A year in private practice at the Holy Cross Hospital in Detroit was followed by 2 decades working at the Henry Ford Hospital, first as a Radiology Director for the Northeast Clinics, and then as a Bone Radiologist in the Main Hospital. Finally in the DMC since 2010, he now practices Orthopaedic and Sportsmedicine Ultrasound exclusively.
His portfolio contains over one thousand invited lectures and work-shops, including abstracts and posters. He has over a dozen of peer-reviewed publications and book chapters. He has been featured in several video presentations by SonoWorld and other venues. He has been invited to lecture in 36 countries, as varied as Russia and Argentina.
Dr. Fernando Jiménez
Fernando Jiménez MD, PhD is a native of Toledo, which is the historical capital of Spain. He graduated from the most prestigious Spanish medical school, La Universidad Complutense de Madrid. He is a Diplomate in Sport Medicine and Physical Education and earned his PhD at the University of Cordoba, Spain, with a research on the assessment of the physiological response in simulated combat military activities.
Doctor Jimenez has worked as a consultant physician in several professional sports teams in both football-soccer as well in professional cycling, which includes the Tour de France, and for the past eleven seasons in the Spanish Professional Basketball League (ACB), as Chief Medical Officer Basketball team Fuenlabrada For 24 years.
Fernando currently serves as a Professor at the Faculty of Sport Sciences, University of Castilla and La Mancha and heads the research group "Deporsalud" oriented to the study of "Sports Performance and Injury Rehabilitation”. He is also Professor in the Catholic University San Antonio of Murcia, University Pablo Olavide of Seville, and National Polytechnic Institute of Mexico. He is an expert in the sonographic diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries, and has published several books on clinical and ultrasonographic study of sports injuries, the latest entitled 'Musculoskeletal Ultrasound, 2nd Edition' (Publisher Marban 2010). He has authored over peer-reviewed 100 publications and articles in journals of scientific interest,

Dr. Marnix Van Holsbeeck
Marnix Van Holsbeeck is the director of musculoskeletal radiology in the Department of Radiology and director of radiology in the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery at the Henry Ford Health System.[1] He is an authority in the field of musculoskeletal radiology. He received his undergraduate degree in medical sciences, and post-graduate degree at the renowned Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium. He completed a residency in radiology, followed by a fellowship in musculoskeletal radiology at the University Hospitals in Gasthuisberg, Belgium. Dr. Van Holsbeeck was a senior lecturer at the Catholic University of Louvain, Belgium and a visiting assistant professor of radiology at the University of Michigan. He serves as primary diagnostic consultant for numerous professional sports teams including the Detroit Tigers, Detroit Red Wings, and Detroit Lions. He has investigated the use of dynamic ultrasonography to detect sports hernia injuries and is the primary investigator for an ongoing, collaborative research project with the United States Olympic Committee and Henry Ford Hospital, which is evaluating the use of ultrasound to diagnose sports injuries in female hockey players. He is also a consultant and co-researcher for NASA and the National Space and Biomedical Research Institute (NSBRI) in the Advanced Diagnostic Ultrasound in Microgravity Project, which involves teaching ultrasound to the astronaut and cosmonaut crews of the International Space Station to use for medical emergencies. This work has been modified for use on the Earth where his team supports the on-site care of professional sports teams and United States Olympic Committee athletes, Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and the Wayne State University School of Medicine. Van Holsbeeck has been elected to numerous professional organizations and national positions including the Radiologic Society of North America, the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, International Skeletal Society, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Society, and the Society of Skeletal Radiologists. Van Holsbeeck has received numerous teaching and professional awards including the President's Medal of the International Skeletal Society and the Belgian Radiologic Society. He serves as a senior reviewer for numerous medical journals and on the editorial board for Ultrasound Quarterly and the Journal of Clinical Ultrasound. He has written over 100 peer-reviewed articles, and is the first author for a leading radiology textbook, Musculoskeletal Ultrasound.

Inder Raj S. Makin
Dr. Makin is an Associate Professor at ATSU-SOMA since July 2012. He has additional appointments at ASDOH as well as with the Research and Grants Office.Dr. Makin obtained his doctorate in Biomedical Engineering from University of Texas at Austin, "Diplom Ingenieur" Bioengineering from Fachhochschule Hamburg Germany, and bachelor of Medicine and bachelor of Surgery (MBBS – MD equivalent), from Jiwaji University, India. He is also an accredited medical sonographer(RDMS).
Dr. Makin's scientific expertise is in bioinstrumentation, the basic and applied research of energy-based medical devices, ultrasound-tissue interaction, and ultrasound wave propagation. He has been involved in numerous projects in academia and private industry to develop research programs and capabilities spanning the spectrum for "benchtop-toclinic."
Dr. Makin is an active member of several medical and engineering professional societies, and has presented several invited talks and workshops. He has co-authored over 25 peerreviewed papers and proceedings, and has 22 issued patents.
DR. NATA GROBBELAAR
During my primary medical studies at Pretoria University, South Africa, I developed a keen interest in the Musculoskeletal System, which set me on the path of searching out a better understanding of anatomy and the biomechanics of the musculoskeletal system and injuries to it. When offered the opportunity to study and do general ultrasound in 1995, I naturally attempted to apply the modality to the Musculoskeletal system. By 1997 I have successfully pioneered Musculoskeletel ultrasound as a trustworthy modality in South Africa and made the importance of a multi-disciplinary involvement one of the core values. In 1998 I launched, the first of many, Annual National Musculoskeletel Ultrasound training conference in South African and have been involved in training and education of Musculoskeletal Ultrasound ever since. After attending my first MUSoc. meeting in Portofino, Italy in September 1997, I was privileged to join the ranks of the Faculty in later years.
My purpose always was and still is to improve the understanding, standard and quality of ultrasound assessment of the Musculoskeletal system.
CORNELIUS GROBBELAAR
I completed an internship in 1994 at Pretoria Academic Hospital (South Africa), followed by one year as a medical officer at the Orthopaedics Department of 1-Military Hospital in Pretoria. My Registrar training was completed from 1996-2000 in Radiology, after which I undertook a short MRI Fellowship before moving to Australia in 2001. I am head of Woman’s imaging in Queensland X/Ray, Brisbane.
My areas of special interest are: Musculoskeletal ultrasound and intervention, infant hip ultrasound and breast MRI. I frequently lecture in my areas of interest and am also actively involved in education of Fellows and Registrars.
